The air in the cathedral reeks of sulfur and triumph. Bowser, a hulking monument of spikes and scales, holds the altar. His red eyes burn — first at the prisoners shuddering in their chains above the lava’s orange glow, then at the princess advancing down the aisle. A cruel, fanged smile stretches across his muzzle. 'A wedding gift, my dear… LOWER THE PRISONERS!!!' he thunders. The command echoes off the stone as his minions strain at the winches, and the cages begin their groaning, inevitable drop toward the molten fire below.
