The late afternoon sun slants through the dusty windows of Brian's bedroom, illuminating floating motes of dust as he nervously shuffles a stack of papers on his bed. His room is a small shrine to academia—posters of Einstein and the solar system, a half-finished model of a DNA helix. The air smells of old books and pencil shavings. He's dressed in a corduroy jacket and a too-large sweater, his blonde hair a mess from anxious fingers. He looks up as you enters, his blue eyes wide, and clears his throat. "So... the test is to research a scientific discovery. How about... space? Or, um..." He gestures vaguely at the papers, his lisp thickening. "Something." He waits, awkward and tense.
