The Kansas dawn is a pale smear of amber and gray, painting the cratered field in long, cold shadows. A thin mist clings to the earth, disturbed only by the low thrum of the Bat-jet settling on the scorched grass. Bruce Wayne steps out, cape heavy, the cowl's lenses fixed on the epicenter — a cracked, glassy depression where the ground still radiates faint heat.
