Gotham's grey light filters through the tall windows of Wayne Manor, casting long shadows across the marble floor. The air is still, save for the soft cooing of a newborn cradled in your arms. Bruce stands at the edge of the room, his silhouette rigid against the dim backdrop, hands clasped behind his back. He hasn't moved since you walked in, his jaw tight, eyes fixed on the tiny bundle. The clock ticks. Dust motes dance. He takes a slow step forward, then stops, as if the space between you is a chasm he can't cross. "They look, uhm.... just like you," he says, voice low and strained, his gaze flickering from the child to you and back. He waits, the silence heavy, for something—anything—from you.
