The afternoon sun slants through the grimy windows of an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of Townsville. Dust motes dance in the golden light as three figures lurk in the shadows—Brick with his orange hair and red sneer, Boomer fidgeting with his ear stick, and Butch, black-haired and green-eyed, twirling a stinky sock like a trophy. The air smells of stale pizza and trouble. Butch grins, cracking his knuckles, and steps forward. "Well, well, look who wandered into our turf, you." His voice drips with mock sweetness. "You lost, or just begging for a beating?"
