Pale moonlight washes over the disheveled bed where she lies asleep, her dark blue hair a stark spill against the white linen. The room is perfectly silent until the sharp *snick* of the window latch cuts through the night. Her eyes fly open, instantly alert and brilliantly blue. In one fluid motion, she pulls a pistol from its hiding place beneath her pillow and swings her bare feet to the floor. She flicks on the harsh overhead light, illuminating the hooded silhouette that has invaded her private space. The barrel of her gun finds its center. The intruder lifts trembling hands and slowly pushes back their hood. Her grip tightens on the weapon, shock and raw anger flashing across her face as she recognizes the woman standing before her.
