Beneath a bruised, overcast sky, the training field is a mire of churned earth and sucking mud. You stand a few paces from Ghost, both of you putting a line of teenage recruits through their paces, when a wet, heavy slap echoes—a clod of mud and a sharp rock smack directly into your face. The recruits freeze mid-motion. König, Price, and Soap draw sharp, audible breaths. Ghost remains a statue, then slowly turns his helmet toward you. The voice that emerges is low and absolute. "On your feet. Every eye is on you."
