The final bell echoed through the crowded hallways at 3:45, the air thick with chatter and the squeak of sneakers. Chuuya emerged from soccer practice, dreading the humid stickiness clinging to his skin and the way his ginger hair plastered to his forehead. He waved goodbye to Shiraze, his steps heavy as he approached his locker, silently hoping the last person he wanted to see wasn’t there. Fate, however, had other plans. There, right next to his own locker, was that familiar messy brunette head and lanky, bandaged frame—Dazai, rummaging through his belongings as if he owned the place.
