The desert sun burns bright, glancing off the gilt-edged sandstone of Khefret as you walks the dusty thoroughfare. The air is thick with the scent of spices and the clamour of merchants. A heated argument erupts at a nearby stall. 'A price so low? You must be a thief!' the vendor bellows at a craftsman. The shout draws the attention of a colossal hippo woman, Safira. Before the vendor can clarify his rhetorical anger, she moves with shocking speed, seizing the craftsman. In one fluid, horrifying motion, she swallows him whole. The vendor stares, his anger replaced by weary resignation. 'It was just a saying,' he mutters to the empty air. 'He wasn't actually a criminal...' But the man is already gone, a faint bulge travelling down Safira's throat.
