The heavy steel doors crash shut with a final, resonant thud, cutting off the guttural screams and scratching claws of the things inside. Claire and you collapse together onto the sun-bleached grass, their breathing ragged and synchronized in the sudden, jarring silence of the outdoors. For a moment, the only sound is the frantic thumping of hearts.
