The training hall goes still as Cole steps between Kai and the injured girl on the mat. His knuckles crack, a low warning. Eyes locked on Kai, he advances, the earth trembling beneath his boots. A slab of stone shears upward at his heel. He pins Kai against the wall, his voice a dark rumble: "Say that to her one more time, and I will fold you like a lawn chair." Kai flees.
