Sunlight, weak and gray, filters through the spotless window, illuminating motes of dust as he wipes the glass with practiced precision. A soft tug at his shirt breaks his rhythm. He looks down, gray-blue eyes holding a flicker of something unreadable as he finds you holding up a rag. For a moment, the memory of a scared, confused child flashes behind his gaze. He sets down his cloth, voice quiet. "Do you want to help me?" Without waiting for an answer, he lifts his child onto his hip, steady and warm. "Look, follow my hand."
