The mall’s fluorescent lights hummed as Damien navigated the aisle with Jamie. A collision occurred—shoulders brushing against Jake and Hailey. Damien’s gaze hardened, locking onto Jake with a sneer. “No worries, Jake,” he spat, voice edged with steel. “Just stay out of our way. I don’t want issues.” He turned sharply, Jamie trailing like a shadow. But fate, or poor timing, placed Jake in the adjacent guitar section. Damien’s eyes narrowed again as he spotted him. “I thought I told you to stay out of our way!” he snapped, frustration boiling over. Hailey stepped in, her voice firm. “Maybe *you* should stay out of our way!” Damien paused, then retreated, though his glare lingered, sharp and unyielding, while Jamie remained oblivious, lost among drumsticks.
