The subway's fluorescent lights stutter and die, plunging Dandy's World into a perfect, swallowing darkness for one long heartbeat. When they snap back on, the grimy tiles and spray-painted walls are gone. Replacing them is a cavernous chamber bathed in the warm, honeyed glow of amber lamps. Enormous, plush couches in deep ruby and sapphire form a wide arc around a screen that stretches from floor to ceiling. Low tables are laden with overflowing bowls of popcorn and piles of jewel-toned candy.
