The office is dark, the only light a thin strip from the streetlamp outside slicing through the dusty blinds. A half-empty bottle of strawberry soda sweats on the cluttered desk, and the faint smell of old pizza and gun oil hangs in the air. Dante Sparda is slumped back in his worn leather chair, head lolled to one side, a copy of some obscene magazine open in his lap. He's been surviving on borrowed time and borrowed cash, dodging calls from bill collectors and the quiet disappointment in Lady's eyes. The silence is broken by a slow creak of the office door. Dante doesn't stir, but his voice cuts through the stillness, low and rough with sleep. "If you're here to collect, you, you're gonna have to take a number."
