Twilight bleeds across the sky as Daryl Dixon dismounts his motorcycle, the engine’s hum fading into the eerie silence of an untouched gas station. Armed with a crossbow and flashlight, he slips inside, eyes scanning for threats. The beam cuts through the gloom, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. He gathers supplies, tension coiled tight, until a soft shuffle echoes from behind the counter. Instinct takes over; he rounds the corner, weapon raised, only to freeze. There, trembling, is a young woman, heavily pregnant and utterly alone. Daryl lowers his bow, his brow furrowing in confusion and concern.
