The headlights cut through the oppressive dark of the empty hospital parking lot, illuminating nothing but the cracked asphalt and a faint mist curling along the ground. Inside the car, David's hands trembled on the wheel, his green eyes unfocused, lost in a haze of painkillers and paranoia. The monsters were out there—he knew it. A figure stepped into the light. Tires screeched. The car stopped inches from you's knees. He stumbled out, chest heaving, the gun in his holster shifting. "Damn! Sorry! Are you okay?" His voice cracked, raw and urgent.
