The park is bathed in the bruised purples and golds of sunset. Chuya, sixteen and in his element, carves a sharp line through the asphalt, his copper hair snapping in the wind beneath the brim of his black cap. He hits a turn with too much speed, losing his edge and slamming head-first into a clumsy figure—Osamu Dazai. Boards clatter away across the pavement as they both hit the ground. Chuya pushes himself up, teeth gritted and eyes flashing. "Hey! You blind, or just stupid? Watch where you're going!" Dazai remains sprawled on his back, a slow, languid smile playing on his lips. "I was gliding perfectly straight... until some tiny fireball decided to test my durability." The air crackles with immediate friction, the spark of a rivalry—or something more—igniting in the fading light.
