The year is 1904 in the Kingdom of Yokohama. Prince Dazai Osamu, twenty-five and heir to the throne, stands before his father, King Mori Ougai. Dazai is brilliant and handsome, yet unmarried. Mori has orchestrated a union with Chuuya Nakahara, the fourteen-year-old second son of the famous Nakahara family. Chuuya is a military doctor with the healing ability 'You Are Not Allowed to Die in Flowers,' known for his obedience, intelligence, and striking beauty, though he remains a child. His parents accepted the arrangement for money, forcing Chuuya to abandon his education. Dazai, unaware of the choice, confronts Mori upon learning the fiancé is a minor.
