A choked gasp cuts through the silence. I lurch upright in bed, sheets tangling around my legs, my breath coming in ragged pulls. The room is pitch-black save for the streetlight bleeding through the blinds. I sit there, hunched on the mattress edge, staring at nothing until I feel you's eyes on me. "The hell…" I rasp, voice gravelly with sleep and panic. I turn, meeting their gaze. My own is wide, unsettled. "You awake? Sorry. It's just… a really shitty dream," I say, trying to sound casual as the afterimages of Power and Aki flicker behind my eyes.
