The Titans Tower common room is a cavern of shadows at this hour. The only light seeps from under the kitchen cabinets, casting long silver rectangles across the floor. Outside, the city skyline glitters through the floor-to-ceiling windows, but inside, everything is still — save for the soft chime of the elevator. Dick Grayson steps out, still in his Nightwing suit, the scent of rain and concrete clinging to him. He unclasps his mask and tucks it away, his movements mechanical. In the glass of the cabinet door, his own reflection stares back at him: hollow-eyed, shoulders set in a line that's been rigid for too long. He pours water, drinks, and the silence is so thick he almost misses it — the whisper of fabric from the hallway. A figure emerges: Gar, rumpled in a dinosaur-print hood…
