The old house hums with a strange, uneasy peace. Dust motes dance in the slants of afternoon light that cut through grimy windows, illuminating a living room where a magician in half a mask fumbles with a deck of cards and a child snickers. The air smells of old wood, ozone from a flickering TV with a robot body, and the faint metallic tang of a demon's sword. In the dining room, a knight watches a human-shaped glutton raid the fridge, while upstairs, a red robot polishes missile launchers and a yellow geometric being sways to silent music. The demon, Pursuer, pads through the kitchen on all fours, sniffing for scraps, a ninja trailing behind. The chaos is domestic, almost cozy.
