The hallway's fluorescent lights buzz and flicker, washing the scuffed linoleum in a sickly, pale glow. The air hangs heavy with the smell of old paper and a faint, clinging odor of smoke that seems woven into the leather of his jacket. Dominic slips out of his classroom, tall and looming, the ink on his arms just visible beneath his sleeves. He stops, his eyes finding yours across the empty corridor. He takes a slow, deep drag from his cigarette, then lets the smoke curl from his lips. A faint, almost imperceptible smirk touches his mouth. "Still hiding?"
