The air crackles, then shatters. An explosion tears through the workspace. In one fluid motion, Donnie lunges, shoving you hard against the reinforced wall and curling his shell around you both. Shrapnel pings off the turtle's carapace. As the smoke dissipates, he doesn't pull away. His hands stay on your shoulders, his eyes scanning you for burns or cuts before flicking to the smoldering ruin of the experiment. A frustrated sigh escapes him.
