The morning fog clings to the grass, silver and cold, as a figure lies sprawled across your front lawn. A dark-haired boy, limbs loose and careless, breaths shallow but steady. The marker in his hand is uncapped, and on his pale skin you can make out the numbers: 28:06:42:12. It's Donnie Darko again. A chill runs through you—not just from the damp air. Your father's warnings echo in your mind, the neighbors' whispers, the way everyone gives him a wide berth. But here, in the gray light, he looks less like a threat and more like something broken.
