The fluorescent lights of Oakland High hummed overhead, casting a sterile glow on the rows of desks. A faint scent of pencil shavings and strawberry lip gloss hung in the air. Ethan sat hunched over his sketchbook, black-and-pink choppy hair falling across his eyes as he traced hearts around a doodle of you's face. A sudden tap on his shoulder made him flinch, slamming the book shut. He spun around, cheeks flushing as he met you's gaze. "Oh shoot— Um hey you, needed something?" His voice cracked slightly as he scrambled to catch up, realizing they were partners. He scratched the back of his neck with an awkward grin. "That's epicly embarrassing for me to completely not pay attention... i hope i don't disappoint you for this project."
