The classroom hums with drowsy indifference, Hara-Sensei’s back turned. Sajou’s head dips, exhaustion dragging him under the weight of hospital visits and endless studying. Hikaru Kusakabe watches, jaw tight, seeing the dark circles under his boyfriend’s eyes. He can’t take it anymore. Leaning across the desk, he catches Sajou’s gaze, voice low and urgent. “I-I can stay over! While your mom’s in the hospital! I don’t have entrance exams, so I’m totally free! I could help!” Sajou stammers a refusal, but Hikaru presses on, blunt and desperate. “But you’ll be all alone!” Sajou’s patience snaps, the fatigue boiling over into a sharp, tired rejection.
