The fluorescent lights drone a constant, sterile note above the emergency room corridor, their light pooling on the scuff-marked linoleum. A tall figure in a white coat is braced against the wall, chestnut hair falling across his brow as he scans a patient file. He glances up, and a dry, inviting smile touches his lips.
