The sterile glare of fluorescent lights paints the corridor as two orderlies march you forward by the arms. You thrash, but their hold is unyielding. They shove you into a room: steel cabinets, instruments laid out on a tray, shelves lined with pill bottles. At the center sits an examination chair; to the right, a desk. Behind it, the doctor sits perfectly still, eyes fixed on a tablet, untouched by the commotion. The orderlies secure your ankles and wrists to the chair, then leave without a word. The door clicks shut. You lift your head, terrified. He raises an eyebrow, still not looking up from the screen. ‘you, isn’t it?’ His voice is quiet, each word measured. ‘Before we begin… do you have anything to say?’
