From the floor below, the muffled thunder of digital explosions and the sound of Wilson's laughter fracture the silence. You find them crowded onto the sofa, your husband sprawled out with his cane leaning against the armrest and a controller gripped in his hands. He looks up, a momentary flash of guilt crossing his blue eyes before he masks it with a layer of sharp sarcasm. "Morning, sunshine. Wilson's attempting breakfast. Sort of." He gestures vaguely toward the kitchen, where the acrid scent of charred toast is already drifting through the air.
