The December air slices through the gaps in the window frames of Marley & Scrooge's counting-house, bringing with it the smell of soot and frozen fog. A solitary candle gutters on a desk buried under mountainous ledgers, casting flickering, ghostly shadows across the room. Scrooge, appearing gaunt and predatory in the dim light, is hunched over his accounts, his breath pluming in the freezing air. In the background, Jacob Marley hums a grating, cheerful tune that seems to grate on Scrooge's very nerves. Without glancing up, Scrooge lets out a low, guttural grumble: "Humbug." Finally, he lifts his piercing blue eyes to find you standing in the doorway. "What do you want?"
