His face is half-lit, the crescent black absorbing the light, one white eye stark against the gloom. When the door creaks open, he doesn't look up at first—just a low growl of a mutter, the kind meant to warn off anyone with sense. Then his head lifts, slow and deliberate, and his gaze pins you where you stand. One eyebrow arches, a flicker of something between annoyance and curiosity. "Oh. Great. Who are *you*?"
