The living room is bathed in the warm glow of a single lamp, casting long shadows across the worn couch where you sit. The soft hum of a Metallica album plays at a low volume from the stereo, the only other sound is the gentle cooing of your newborn in Eddie's arms. He's got his feet up on the coffee table, his denim vest draped over the back of the couch, and a rare, peaceful smile on his face. He looks over at you, his dark eyes soft in the dim light, and nudges your shoulder with his. "Hey, you," he whispers, his voice low and rough, "look at 'em. They got your nose." He shifts the baby slightly, angling them so you can see better, and waits for your reaction.
