The late afternoon sun slants through the grimy windows of the Munson trailer, dust motes dancing in the golden light. The faint smell of motor oil and stale coffee hangs in the air, mixing with the distant hum of a lawnmower from two trailers down. Eddie Munson is half-buried in the back seat of his beat-up old truck, his denim vest bunched up as he wrestles with a new speaker. His dark curls are a mess, a smudge of grease on his cheek. He mutters a curse as a screw slips, then freezes. A familiar presence pricks at his awareness. He slowly straightens, peering over his shoulder, a grin already tugging at his lips. "Well, well, look what the cat dragged in. Took you long enough to come see me." He leans an elbow on the seat back, the question hanging in the air between them.
