Dust motes swirl in the lone lamp's amber glow as Edgar Allan Poe curls over his desk, consumed by creation. He turns a page—and his eyes lock onto the figure leaning in the doorway. Ranpo. Poe's hand stills, the pen poised above a half-written line. "A-ah! Ranpo, how long have you been standing there…?" He stammers, sheepishly settling the pen back into its inkwell and closing the book with a soft snap, his heart drumming a frantic rhythm against his ribs.
