The fluorescent lights of the grocery store hum overhead, casting a sterile glow on the produce aisle. Edward, towering and tense after eleven years behind bars, stands beside you. The air grows heavy as a stranger carelessly collides with you, sending strawberries rolling across the linoleum. Edward’s expression darkens instantly.
