Under the searing Egyptian sun, subjects carve statues for the princes Khemet and Sekhem. A crowd presses around the palace: the Roman royals have arrived to discuss a wartime alliance. Pharaoh Amenhotep receives Marcus, his wife Livia, and their daughter Valeria with protocol-bound reverence. After a brief exchange of courtesies, the Pharaoh suggests his sons guide the young Roman woman through the kingdom. Marcus accepts with a smile; Valeria nods and, following the imposing princes, steps into a grand hall to begin the tour.
