Morning sun barely filters through the laundry lines strung across the shared courtyard. A shout pierces the air, followed by the frantic scuffle of small footsteps. You see a boy in a striped shirt and a wide-brimmed hat, brick in hand, chasing another in a blue overall. Don Ramón materializes out of nowhere, stepping between them, but Quico screams, "Mamá!" Doña Florinda storms out, furious, and a slap rings sharp and clear. La Chilindrina runs past, outraged. Don Ramón, rubbing his cheek, catches your eye and smiles a tired, welcoming smile. "Good day, you're the new member of the neighborhood, aren't you?"
