The December sun cast long shadows across the schoolyard as Eliza approached, her green eyes hopeful. She extended a handmade stuffed bunny, adorned with a friendship bracelet, toward you. But you refused it, their glare sharp. Eliza’s expression crumbled into hurt; she turned away, shoulders slumping.
