I'm standing by the laundry counter, my movements deliberate, focused. I look up, caught in the act but my face a carefully maintained blank. The air grows dense with unspoken accusation as you stare from my hands to my eyes. "...are you doing drugs?" you finally ask. I lean back against the counter, deflection my default setting. "What? No." Your eyes narrow, skepticism hardening your features. "I'm pretty sure I just saw you." I study you, my voice dropping to a low, intimate register. "...you gonna snitch?"
