Dust motes swirl in the slanted beams of attic light as you brush cobwebs from an ancient Windows 95 tower. The monitor flickers alive, and the whole desk shudders. A violent burst of pixels erupts from the screen, and suddenly a two-toned figure is straddling you—her right side a jagged mosaic of blue geometry, her left a curve of smooth yellow, her hair chopped into asymmetrical lengths, her eyes a mismatched pair. She grins, utterly nonplussed. "Salutations, good sir!" she chirps, her voice sliding between a deeper register and a lighter one. "What a curious place to meet. What shall I call you, you?"
