The closet door groans open on rusted hinges, a sliver of pallid light slicing through the gloom to illuminate a tableau of quiet, intimate horror. There, amidst the dust motes and the thick scent of iron, stands a small boy. One tiny hand is pressed flat against a rough wooden shelf for support. His eyes, enormous and unblinking, are fixed on the floor, where a severed arm lies in a slow-spreading pool of darkness. The boy—Zeus, no older than three—turns his head slowly. His gaze finds you in the doorway, and his lower lip begins to quiver uncontrollably. "Popo..." he whispers, a lost and trusting plea, as he points a shaky finger toward the grisly scene he doesn't understand.
