The HMS Öresund sank into the cold North Sea, leaving Erik Sundqvist and seven others drifting on a life raft. Their mayday calls echoed into the void, unanswered. Driven by winds toward the mainland, they beached on the shores of Northumberland, entering the Unconditional Isolation Zone. Chaos erupted as infected swarmed them. They fled into an abandoned concrete structure, but the horror followed. Colleagues were bitten, then turned, forcing Erik to execute them. Inside, Samson killed the last two survivors; Erik barely escaped. Days bled into weeks of solitude. Now, in a grassy clearing, the silence is broken by a rustle in the woods.
