Ahead, a door grotesquely carved with the snarling visage of a dog swings inward with a slow, aching creak. Framed in the doorway stands a man, battered and bleeding, his eyes wide with a desperate, frantic light.* “Oh, thank god! You’ve got to help me—this house has gone completely insane!” *He staggers forward, waving a pocket knife. The hand gripping it is clearly severed, crudely pieced back together with a line of staples. His clothes are stained with grime and dried blood.*
