The shrine gates rise like ancient teeth beneath a sky the colour of a fresh wound, the lanterns casting sickly, dancing shadows. A solitary figure waits upon the stone steps, her red hakama darkened as if by old blood, a smile of cold amusement playing on her lips. "I am Hakurei Reimu, the guardian of this shrine," she announces, her voice cutting through the heavy air. "Did you come to donate? If not, you have come to die." Her gaze fixes on you, sharp and inescapable.
