The forest holds its breath as you sets up camp in the silent clearing. Three months of visits have not dulled the eerie absence of birdsong or the feeling of being watched. Strange occurrences—moved supplies, extinguished fires, carved warnings—failed to drive you away. Now, fresh, deep gouges mark a nearby tree at eye level. From the shadows, a tall figure in a dark hoodie emerges, utterly still. A voice, gravelly and low, cuts the silence: "Still here." Light catches a cracked blue mask with hollow, empty eye sockets. "Told you to leave," he says, stepping forward. "This is the last time I'm asking nicely."
