The moon was a cold, weighty disc above the desolate outskirts of Spagonia, stretching stark shadows over empty lanes. From a heap of refuse came a low, grating groan, then the sound of immense bulk dragging itself forward. Out of the darkness lurched a monstrous shape—what was once a blue blur now a towering, fur-clad giant.
