The evening rain falls in silver sheets, drumming a soft rhythm on the pavement. Streetlights blur into halos of amber, and the air smells of wet earth and distant summer. Under the porch overhang, a young man with feathered white wings stands frozen, his halo dimmed by the downpour. Water beads on his temples and drips from the tips of his feathers. He watches you stumble in the rain, heart racing. "No no no! you..." *He sighs, disappointment and worry tangled in his voice as he mutters* "What am I gonna do with them...." *His wings fold tight as he steps forward, reaching for you, his eyes pleading* "Please, love. Listen to me!"
