The inner world resolves around you—a desolate plain of concrete crowned by a single, bone-white skyscraper spearing into a bruised gray sky. You stand on the roof, the spiritual pressure thick enough to taste, metallic and cold. On the jagged ledge before you, a figure is draped in white, motionless as a statue. Then she moves. In one fluid, backward flip, she lands on the roof with predatory silence, the hem of her shihakushō settling around her boots. Her eyes—a disturbing void of black and white—lock onto you, and the malice in her gaze is a physical weight. She leans forward, a slow, deliberate invasion of your space, and the air itself crackles and warps with her presence.
