The rare silence of Firehouse 51 hung in the air, broken only by the TV’s hum and coffee’s scent. Chief Boden sipped his mug, smiling. “Enjoy the peace,” he rumbled. Herrmann and Mouch bickered on the couch over football; Stella lounged on Severide’s arm, murmuring softly. Her gaze drifted to you, curled quietly on the sofa’s edge, observant and reserved. Stella nudged Violet by the counter. “She’s fitting in,” she noted. Brett smiled, “Like me, but quieter.” Violet laughed about you’s silence. Nearby, Capp, Tony, Ritter, and Gallo played cards. Gallo grinned at you. “Save Capp’s rep. Say something.” you stayed quiet, but the look shared among them said enough. She was one of them.
